What is a snare pole and how to use it
Snare poles are used to catch Pompano Beach animals without risking injury to either you or the animal and probably the trickiest part about snare poles is that they have many many names, some of which include:
• snare pole
• catchpole
• catchall pole
• come along pole
• rabies pole
• Y pole
• animal control pole
You get the idea, basically what we're talking about is a long pole up to 6 feet long with a loop of practically unbreakable material, most of them use some kind of synthetically made rope, that the operator controls from the other end. The basic idea is to put the loop end over the animals head and pull it tight enough to have control of the animal but not tight enough to choke it, if the Pompano Beach animal is choked it will react violently every single time. Mostly these type of poles are used by local animal control officers to capture stray pets and feral dogs and cats, they rarely have to use them on wild animals.
The basic instructions on how to use a snare pole start with the instruction that the poll is designed to coax the animals to safety in a gentle fashion. The pole is never to be used as a weapon as it is more likely to break than do any damage. Another thing I found interesting is that even though most professionals say snare poles should not be used on Florida cats, local animal control officers do use them on cats rather than risk injury by handling the animals with their hands, and anyone who's ever tried to hold a cat that didn't want to be held can understand why. The proper instructions say the way to catch a stray or feral cat is by using a net but that still means at some stage the person doing the catching is going to have to get very close to the animal and to probably handle it which a lot of animal control officers refused to do for their own safety.
There is a specific recommended technique for using the snare pole, you approach the Pompano Beach animal slowly and quietly with the control pole up against your leg so as not to startle the animal. Move the pole with the loop end towards the animal when you are within range, using both hands on the pole slip the noose over the animals head, using the backhand pull the release caught to tighten the loop until the court fits snugly. Once the loop is over the animals head and tightened moved to the side of the animal and using the pole direct the animal to where you want it to go. Most animals seem to be happy to walk forwards as long as you are not in front of them. Never try and pull the animal towards you from directly in front of it, this can cause the loop to be pulled over the animals head and for it to escape. Also never left the animal off the ground using the pole only.
